The container's wide-mouth opening allows fast and easy sample transfer, prevents spillage, and the screw-tight lid tightens securely to provide leak-resistant security, making this sampling container ideal for collecting, adding, and safely shipping carcass rinse samples for testing. The tough, polyethylene container provides glass-like clarity, is lightweight yet strong to guard against breakage during transfer, shipping, and handling. The chemically inert material does not react with the contents or impact sample integrity. Butterfield’s Buffer is an ideal diluent for food, beverage, and environmental samples, and is a cost-effective alternative to mixing in-house. When used in conjunction with bird or turkey rinse bags from Neogen® , this solution is ideal for testing poultry for the presence of E. coli. Butterfield's Buffer is used as a diluent for the preparation of dilutions in plate count and other laboratory processes. It may also is used to dilute “washed” samples of poultry, cattle, or swine to be tested for generic E. coli. It is formulated to the standard found in the Compendium of Methods for the Microbiological Examination of Foods and is also recommended as a general diluent in laboratory procedures by the Federal Drug Administration and in the Bacteriological Analytical Manual.
